# Answers to Practice Test on Dividing Integers

Below are the answers and the explanations of the Practice Test on Dividing Integers. Note that as mentioned in the post Dividing Positive and Negative Integers, the rules in dividing integers as well as real numbers are the following:

(1) positive number ÷ positive number = positive number

(2) positive number ÷ negative number = negative number

(3) negative number ÷ positive number = negative number

(4) negative number ÷ negative number = positive number.

1.) -35 ÷ 7 = -5 (by rule 3)

2.) 38 ÷ -19 = -2 (by rule 2)

3.) 56 ÷ 8 = 7 (by rule 1)

4.) -84 ÷ -12 = 7 (by rule 4)

5.) -28 ÷ -1 = 28 (by rule 4)

6.) 0 ÷ -5 = 0 (0 divided by any number is 0)

7.) 47 ÷ -47 = -1 (by rule 2)

8.) -156 ÷ 12 = -13 (by rule 3)

9.) -34 ÷ -17 = 2 (by rule 4)

10.) -180 ÷ 9 = -20 (by rule 3)

I hope you got all the answers correct. In the next post, we will be discussing about the order of operations. This is simplifying numbers with more than one operations.

1. You missed to answer item #9. Anyway, the answer is (positive) number 2, because in division, two negatives is positive, as well as in multiplication.
